We are currently allowing ->runtime_idle() callbacks to be unassigned without returning an error code from rpm_idle(). This has been useful to avoid boilerplate code in drivers. Let's take this approach a step further, by allowing also unassigned ->runtime_suspend|resume() callbacks. In this way, a consumer/supplier device link can be used to let a consumer device be power managed through its supplier device, without requiring assigned ->runtime_suspend|resume() callbacks for the consumer device, for example. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
