Kees Cook 0638dcc7e7 treewide: Remove uninitialized_var() usage
commit 3f649ab728 upstream.

Using uninitialized_var() is dangerous as it papers over real bugs[1]
(or can in the future), and suppresses unrelated compiler warnings
(e.g. "unused variable"). If the compiler thinks it is uninitialized,
either simply initialize the variable or make compiler changes.

In preparation for removing[2] the[3] macro[4], remove all remaining
needless uses with the following script:

git grep '\buninitialized_var\b' | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u | \
	xargs perl -pi -e \
		's/\buninitialized_var\(([^\)]+)\)/\1/g;
s:\s*/\* (GCC be quiet|to make compiler happy) \*/$::g;'

drivers/video/fbdev/riva/riva_hw.c was manually tweaked to avoid
pathological white-space.

No outstanding warnings were found building allmodconfig with GCC 9.3.0
for x86_64, i386, arm64, arm, powerpc, powerpc64le, s390x, mips, sparc64,
alpha, and m68k.

Eric W. Biederman 9a18c9c833 exit: Add and use make_task_dead.
commit 0e25498f8c upstream.

There are two big uses of do_exit. The first is it's design use to be
the guts of the exit(2) system call. The second use is to terminate
a task after something catastrophic has happened like a NULL pointer
in kernel code.

Add a function make_task_dead that is initialy exactly the same as
do_exit to cover the cases where do_exit is called to handle
catastrophic failure. In time this can probably be reduced to just a
light wrapper around do_task_dead. For now keep it exactly the same so
that there will be no behavioral differences introducing this new
concept.

Replace all of the uses of do_exit that use it for catastraphic
task cleanup with make_task_dead to make it clear what the code
is doing.

As part of this rename rewind_stack_do_exit
rewind_stack_and_make_dead.

Valentin Schneider f17b27f3d4 ia64: ensure proper NUMA distance and possible map initialization
commit b22a8f7b4b upstream.

John Paul reported a warning about bogus NUMA distance values spurred by
commit:

620a6dc407 ("sched/topology: Make sched_init_numa() use a set for the deduplicating sort")

In this case, the afflicted machine comes up with a reported 256 possible
nodes, all of which are 0 distance away from one another. This was
previously silently ignored, but is now caught by the aforementioned
commit.

The culprit is ia64's node_possible_map which remains unchanged from its
initialization value of NODE_MASK_ALL. In John's case, the machine
doesn't have any SRAT nor SLIT table, but AIUI the possible map remains
untouched regardless of what ACPI tables end up being parsed. Thus,
!online && possible nodes remain with a bogus distance of 0 (distances \in
[0, 9] are "reserved and have no meaning" as per the ACPI spec).

Follow x86 / drivers/base/arch_numa's example and set the possible map to
the parsed map, which in this case seems to be the online map.

Masami Hiramatsu 2c9650faa1 Revert "ia64: kprobes: Use generic kretprobe trampoline handler"
This reverts commit 77fa5e15c9.

Since the upstream commit e792ff804f
depends on the generic kretprobe trampoline handler, which was
introduced by commit 66ada2ccae ("kprobes: Add generic kretprobe
trampoline handler") but that is not ported to the stable kernel
because it is not a bugfix series.
So revert this commit to fix a build error.

NOTE: I keep commit a7fe237845 ("ia64: kprobes: Fix to pass
correct trampoline address to the handler") on the tree, that seems
just a cleanup without the original reverted commit, but it would
be better to use dereference_function_descriptor() macro instead
of accessing descriptor's field directly.

commit a7fe237845 upstream.

The following commit:

Commit e792ff804f ("ia64: kprobes: Use generic kretprobe trampoline handler")

Passed the wrong trampoline address to __kretprobe_trampoline_handler(): it
passes the descriptor address instead of function entry address.

Pass the right parameter.

Also use correct symbol dereference function to get the function address
from 'kretprobe_trampoline' - an IA64 special.

This is the same as sizeof(size_t), which is two shorter than the actual
array. Use the ARRAY_SIZE() macro to get the correct calculation instead.

Sergei Trofimovich 44d96d2dc0 ia64: module: fix symbolizer crash on fdescr
[ Upstream commit 99e729bd40 ]

Noticed failure as a crash on ia64 when tried to symbolize all backtraces
collected by page_owner=on:

    $ cat /sys/kernel/debug/page_owner

Hardware name: hp server rx3600, BIOS 04.03 04/08/2008
    ip is at dereference_module_function_descriptor+0x41/0x100

Crash happens at dereference_module_function_descriptor() due to
use-after-free when dereferencing ".opd" section header.

All section headers are already freed after module is laoded successfully.

To keep symbolizer working the change stores ".opd" address and size after
module is relocated to a new place and before section headers are
discarded.

To make similar errors less obscure module_finalize() now zeroes out all
variables relevant to module loading only.

Sergei Trofimovich cb1504b30b ia64: fix ia64_syscall_get_set_arguments() for break-based syscalls
[ Upstream commit 0ceb1ace4a ]

In https://bugs.gentoo.org/769614 Dmitry noticed that
`ptrace(PTRACE_GET_SYSCALL_INFO)` does not work for syscalls called via
glibc's syscall() wrapper.

ia64 has two ways to call syscalls from userspace: via `break` and via
`eps` instructions.

The difference is in stack layout:

1. `eps` creates simple stack frame: no locals, in{0..7} == out{0..8}
2. `break` uses userspace stack frame: may be locals (glibc provides
   one), in{0..7} == out{0..8}.

Both work fine in syscall handling cde itself.

But `ptrace(PTRACE_GET_SYSCALL_INFO)` uses unwind mechanism to
re-extract syscall arguments but it does not account for locals.

The change always skips locals registers. It should not change `eps`
path as kernel's handler already enforces locals=0 and fixes `break`.

Tested on v5.10 on rx3600 machine (ia64 9040 CPU).

Andy Shevchenko 392e879a44 dma-mapping: fix filename references
After commit cf65a0f6f6 ("dma-mapping: move all DMA mapping code to
kernel/dma") some of the files are referring to outdated information,
i.e. old file names of DMA mapping sources. Fix it here.

Note, the lines with "Glue code for..." have been removed completely.

Christoph Hellwig df41017eaf ia64: remove support for machvecs
The only thing remaining of the machvecs is a few checks if we are
running on an SGI UV system. Replace those with the existing
is_uv_system() check that has been rewritten to simply check the
OEM ID directly.

That leaves us with a generic kernel that is as fast as the previous
DIG/ZX1/UV kernels, but can support all hardware. Support for UV
and the HP SBA IOMMU is now optional based on new config options.

Christoph Hellwig 974f83ec1e ia64: rework iommu probing
ia64 currently organizes the iommu probing along machves, which isn't
very helpful. Instead just try to probe for Intel IOMMUs in mem_init
as they are properly described in ACPI and if none was found initialize
the swiotlb buffer. The HP SBA handling is then only done delayed when
the actual hardware is probed. Only in the case that we actually found
usable IOMMUs we then set up the DMA ops and free the not needed
swiotlb buffer. This scheme gets rid of the need for the dma_init
machvec operation, and the dig_vtd machvec.

The hpsim platform supports the HP IA64 simulator which was useful as a

Christian Brauner 1a271a68e0 arch: mark syscall number 435 reserved for clone3
A while ago Arnd made it possible to give new system calls the same
syscall number on all architectures (except alpha). To not break this
nice new feature let's mark 435 for clone3 as reserved on all
architectures that do not yet implement it.
Even if an architecture does not plan to implement it this ensures that
new system calls coming after clone3 will have the same number on all
architectures.

Linus Torvalds 5450e8a316 Merge tag 'pidfd-updates-v5.3' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brauner/linux
Pull pidfd updates from Christian Brauner:
 "This adds two main features.

   - First, it adds polling support for pidfds. This allows process
managers to know when a (non-parent) process dies in a race-free
     way.

The notification mechanism used follows the same logic that is
currently used when the parent of a task is notified of a child's
death. With this patchset it is possible to put pidfds in an
{e}poll loop and get reliable notifications for process (i.e.
     thread-group) exit.

   - The second feature compliments the first one by making it possible
to retrieve pollable pidfds for processes that were not created
     using CLONE_PIDFD.

A lot of processes get created with traditional PID-based calls
such as fork() or clone() (without CLONE_PIDFD). For these
processes a caller can currently not create a pollable pidfd. This
is a problem for Android's low memory killer (LMK) and service
     managers such as systemd.

Both patchsets are accompanied by selftests.

It's perhaps worth noting that the work done so far and the work done
in this branch for pidfd_open() and polling support do already see
  some adoption:

   - Android is in the process of backporting this work to all their LTS
     kernels [1]

   - Service managers make use of pidfd_send_signal but will need to
wait until we enable waiting on pidfds for full adoption.

   - And projects I maintain make use of both pidfd_send_signal and
CLONE_PIDFD [2] and will use polling support and pidfd_open() too"

Pull force_sig() argument change from Eric Biederman:
"A source of error over the years has been that force_sig has taken a
task parameter when it is only safe to use force_sig with the current
  task.

The force_sig function is built for delivering synchronous signals
such as SIGSEGV where the userspace application caused a synchronous
fault (such as a page fault) and the kernel responded with a signal.

Because the name force_sig does not make this clear, and because the
force_sig takes a task parameter the function force_sig has been
abused for sending other kinds of signals over the years. Slowly those
have been fixed when the oopses have been tracked down.

This set of changes fixes the remaining abusers of force_sig and
carefully rips out the task parameter from force_sig and friends
making this kind of error almost impossible in the future"

 - Add the bare minimum of tracepoints required for LISA EAS regression
testing, by Qais Yousef - which allows automated testing of various
power management features, including energy aware scheduling.

 - Restructure the former tsk_nr_cpus_allowed() facility that the -rt
