Armin Wolf 3cc9e1a566 platform/x86: asus-nb-wmi: Ignore unknown event 0xCF
[ Upstream commit e9fba20c29 ]

On the Asus X541UAK an unknown event 0xCF is emited when the charger
is plugged in. This is caused by the following AML code:

    If (ACPS ())
    {
        ACPF = One
        Local0 = 0x58
        If (ATKP)
        {
            ^^^^ATKD.IANE (0xCF)
        }
    }
    Else
    {
        ACPF = Zero
        Local0 = 0x57
    }

    Notify (AC0, 0x80) // Status Change
    If (ATKP)
    {
        ^^^^ATKD.IANE (Local0)
    }

    Sleep (0x64)
    PNOT ()
    Sleep (0x0A)
    NBAT (0x80)

Ignore the 0xCF event to silence the unknown event warning.

Javier Carrasco fb6d3c6c12 platform/chrome: cros_ec_typec: fix missing fwnode reference decrement
commit 9c41f37145 upstream.

The device_for_each_child_node() macro requires explicit calls to
fwnode_handle_put() upon early exits (return, break, goto) to decrement
the fwnode's refcount, and avoid levaing a node reference behind.

Andy Shevchenko c472b55cc0 mfd: intel_soc_pmic_bxtwc: Use IRQ domain for TMU device
[ Upstream commit 9b79d59e6b ]

While design wise the idea of converting the driver to use
the hierarchy of the IRQ chips is correct, the implementation
has (inherited) flaws. This was unveiled when platform_get_irq()
had started WARN() on IRQ 0 that is supposed to be a Linux
IRQ number (also known as vIRQ).

Rework the driver to respect IRQ domain when creating each MFD
device separately, as the domain is not the same for all of them.

Aleksandr Mishin ee1c2ecf7b platform/x86: dell-smbios: Fix error path in dell_smbios_init()
[ Upstream commit ffc17e1479 ]

In case of error in build_tokens_sysfs(), all the memory that has been
allocated is freed at end of this function. But then free_group() is
called which performs memory deallocation again.

Also, instead of free_group() call, there should be exit_dell_smbios_smm()
and exit_dell_smbios_wmi() calls, since there is initialization, but there
is no release of resources in case of an error.

Fix these issues by replacing free_group() call with
exit_dell_smbios_wmi() and exit_dell_smbios_smm().

Patryk Duda b12a67976b platform/chrome: cros_ec_proto: Lock device when updating MKBP version
commit df615907f1 upstream.

The cros_ec_get_host_command_version_mask() function requires that the

The problem was observed while using UART backend which doesn't use any

Hans de Goede bf85def4b6 platform/x86: touchscreen_dmi: Allow partial (prefix) matches for ACPI names
[ Upstream commit dbcbfd662a ]

On some devices the ACPI name of the touchscreen is e.g. either
MSSL1680:00 or MSSL1680:01 depending on the BIOS version.

This happens for example on the "Chuwi Hi8 Air" tablet where the initial
commit's ts_data uses "MSSL1680:00" but the tablets from the github issue
and linux-hardware.org probe linked below both use "MSSL1680:01".

Replace the strcmp() match on ts_data->acpi_name with a strstarts()
check to allow using a partial match on just the ACPI HID of "MSSL1680"
and change the ts_data->acpi_name for the "Chuwi Hi8 Air" accordingly
to fix the touchscreen not working on models where it is "MSSL1680:01".

Note this drops the length check for I2C_NAME_SIZE. This never was
necessary since the ACPI names used are never more then 11 chars and
I2C_NAME_SIZE is 20 so the replaced strncmp() would always stop long
before reaching I2C_NAME_SIZE.

Hans de Goede bdb26b8199 platform/x86: asus-wmi: Fix kbd_dock_devid tablet-switch reporting
commit fdcc0602d6 upstream.

Commit 1ea0d3b467 ("platform/x86: asus-wmi: Simplify tablet-mode-switch
handling") unified the asus-wmi tablet-switch handling, but it did not take
into account that the value returned for the kbd_dock_devid WMI method is
inverted where as the other ones are not inverted.

This causes asus-wmi to report an inverted tablet-switch state for devices
which use the kbd_dock_devid, which causes libinput to ignore touchpad
events while the affected T10x model 2-in-1s are docked.

Add inverting of the return value in the kbd_dock_devid case to fix this.

David Thompson a657bddfb4 mlxbf-bootctl: correctly identify secure boot with development keys
[ Upstream commit d4eef75279 ]

The secure boot state of the BlueField SoC is represented by two bits:
                0 = production state
                1 = secure boot enabled
                2 = non-secure (secure boot disabled)
                3 = RMA state
There is also a single bit to indicate whether production keys or
development keys are being used when secure boot is enabled.
This single bit (specified by MLXBF_BOOTCTL_SB_DEV_MASK) only has
meaning if secure boot state equals 1 (secure boot enabled).

The secure boot states are as follows:
- “GA secured” is when secure boot is enabled with official production keys.
- “Secured (development)” is when secure boot is enabled with development keys.

Without this fix “GA Secured” is displayed on development cards which is
misleading. This patch updates the logic in "lifecycle_state_show()" to
handle the case where the SoC is configured for secure boot and is using
development keys.

Luke D. Jones ada7c5cc69 asus-wmi: Add dgpu disable method

In Windows the ASUS Armory Crate program can enable or disable the

However the WMI call saves the state of dGPU (enabled or not) and
this then changes the dGPU visibility in Linux with no way for
Linux users to re-enable it. We expose the WMI method so users can
see and change the dGPU ACPI state.

Samuel Čavoj 9a861dde99 platform/x86: asus-wmi: Add support for SW_TABLET_MODE on UX360
[ Upstream commit ea856ec266 ]

The UX360CA has a WMI device id 0x00060062, which reports whether the
lid is flipped in tablet mode (1) or in normal laptop mode (0).

Add a quirk (quirk_asus_use_lid_flip_devid) for devices on which this
WMI device should be used to figure out the SW_TABLET_MODE state, as
opposed to the quirk_asus_use_kbd_dock_devid.

Additionally, the device needs to be queried on resume and restore
because the firmware does not generate an event if the laptop is put to
sleep while in tablet mode, flipped to normal mode, and later awoken.

It is assumed other UX360* models have the same WMI device. As such, the
quirk is applied to devices with DMI_MATCH(DMI_PRODUCT_NAME, "UX360").
More devices with this feature need to be tested and added accordingly.

The reason for using an allowlist via the quirk mechanism is that the new
WMI device (0x00060062) is also present on some models which do not have
a 360 degree hinge (at least FX503VD and GL503VD from Hans' DSTS
collection) and therefore its presence cannot be relied on.

[ Upstream commit eba9ac7aba ]

Since commit fa1f68db6c ("drivers: misc: pass miscdevice pointer via
file private data"), the miscdevice stores a pointer to itself inside
filp->private_data, which means that private_data will not be NULL when
wmi_char_open() is called. This might cause memory corruption should
wmi_char_open() be unable to find its driver, something which can
happen when the associated WMI device is deleted in wmi_free_devices().

Fix the problem by using the miscdevice pointer to retrieve the WMI
device data associated with a char device using container_of(). This
also avoids wmi_char_open() picking a wrong WMI device bound to a
driver with the same name as the original driver.

Hans de Goede 8fece0081b platform/x86: asus-wmi: Change ASUS_WMI_BRN_DOWN code from 0x20 to 0x2e
commit f37cc2fc27 upstream.

Older Asus laptops change the backlight level themselves and then send
WMI events with different codes for different backlight levels.

The asus-wmi.c code maps the entire range of codes reported on
brightness down keypresses to an internal ASUS_WMI_BRN_DOWN code:

define NOTIFY_BRNUP_MIN                0x11
define NOTIFY_BRNUP_MAX                0x1f
define NOTIFY_BRNDOWN_MIN              0x20
define NOTIFY_BRNDOWN_MAX              0x2e

        if (code >= NOTIFY_BRNUP_MIN && code <= NOTIFY_BRNUP_MAX)
                code = ASUS_WMI_BRN_UP;
        else if (code >= NOTIFY_BRNDOWN_MIN && code <= NOTIFY_BRNDOWN_MAX)
                code = ASUS_WMI_BRN_DOWN;

Before this commit all the NOTIFY_BRNDOWN_MIN - NOTIFY_BRNDOWN_MAX
aka 0x20 - 0x2e events were mapped to 0x20.

This mapping is causing issues on new laptop models which actually
send 0x2b events for printscreen presses and 0x2c events for
capslock presses, which get translated into spurious brightness-down
presses.

The plan is disable the 0x11-0x2e special mapping on laptops
where asus-wmi does not register a backlight-device to avoid
the spurious brightness-down keypresses. New laptops always send
0x2e for brightness-down presses, change the special internal
ASUS_WMI_BRN_DOWN value from 0x20 to 0x2e to match this in
preparation for fixing the spurious brightness-down presses.

This change does not have any functional impact since all
of 0x20 - 0x2e is mapped to ASUS_WMI_BRN_DOWN first and only
then checked against the keymap code and the new 0x2e
value is still in the 0x20 - 0x2e range.

Stephen Boyd 1ec40ef6f7 platform/x86: intel_scu_ipc: Fail IPC send if still busy
[ Upstream commit 85e654c9f7 ]

It's possible for interrupts to get significantly delayed to the point
that callers of intel_scu_ipc_dev_command() and friends can call the
function once, hit a timeout, and call it again while the interrupt
still hasn't been processed. This driver will get seriously confused if
the interrupt is finally processed after the second IPC has been sent
with ipc_command(). It won't know which IPC has been completed. This
could be quite disastrous if calling code assumes something has happened
upon return from intel_scu_ipc_dev_simple_command() when it actually
hasn't.

Let's avoid this scenario by simply returning -EBUSY in this case.
Hopefully higher layers will know to back off or fail gracefully when
this happens. It's all highly unlikely anyway, but it's better to be
correct here as we have no way to know which IPC the status register is
telling us about if we send a second IPC while the previous IPC is still
processing.

Stephen Boyd 441b61d742 platform/x86: intel_scu_ipc: Check status upon timeout in ipc_wait_for_interrupt()
[ Upstream commit 427fada620 ]

It's possible for the completion in ipc_wait_for_interrupt() to timeout,
simply because the interrupt was delayed in being processed. A timeout
in itself is not an error. This driver should check the status register
upon a timeout to ensure that scheduling or interrupt processing delays
don't affect the outcome of the IPC return value.

 CPU0                                                   SCU

  [TIMEOUT]                                             status[IPC_STATUS_BUSY]=0

Fix this problem by reading the status bit in all cases, regardless of
the timeout. If the completion times out, we'll assume the problem was
that the IPC_STATUS_BUSY bit was still set, but if the status bit is
cleared in the meantime we know that we hit some scheduling delay and we
should just check the error bit.

Stephen Boyd c463898b6e platform/x86: intel_scu_ipc: Check status after timeout in busy_loop()
[ Upstream commit e0b4ab3bb9 ]

It's possible for the polling loop in busy_loop() to get scheduled away
for a long time.

  status = ipc_read_status(scu); // status = IPC_STATUS_BUSY
  <long time scheduled away>
  if (!(status & IPC_STATUS_BUSY))

If this happens, then the status bit could change while the task is
scheduled away and this function would never read the status again after
timing out. Instead, the function will return -ETIMEDOUT when it's
possible that scheduling didn't work out and the status bit was cleared.
Bit polling code should always check the bit being polled one more time
after the timeout in case this happens.

Fix this by reading the status once more after the while loop breaks.
The readl_poll_timeout() macro implements all of this, and it is
shorter, so use that macro here to consolidate code and fix this.

There were some concerns with using readl_poll_timeout() because it uses
timekeeping, and timekeeping isn't running early on or during the late
stages of system suspend or early stages of system resume, but an audit
of the code concluded that this code isn't called during those times so
it is safe to use the macro.

the intel_button_array_enable() call in probe() consistent with the calls
done on suspend/resume which also rely on the priv->array check inside
the function.

Maxim Mikityanskiy 89060b831c platform/x86: msi-laptop: Fix rfkill out-of-sync on MSI Wind U100
[ Upstream commit ad084a6d99 ]

Only the HW rfkill state is toggled on laptops with quirks->ec_read_only
(so far only MSI Wind U90/U100). There are, however, a few issues with
the implementation:

1. The initial HW state is always unblocked, regardless of the actual
   state on boot, because msi_init_rfkill only sets the SW state,
   regardless of ec_read_only.

2. The initial SW state corresponds to the actual state on boot, but it
   can't be changed afterwards, because set_device_state returns
   -EOPNOTSUPP. It confuses the userspace, making Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth
   unusable if it was blocked on boot, and breaking the airplane mode if
   the rfkill was unblocked on boot.

Address the above issues by properly initializing the HW state on
ec_read_only laptops and by allowing the userspace to toggle the SW
state. Don't set the SW state ourselves and let the userspace fully
control it. Toggling the SW state is a no-op, however, it allows the
userspace to properly toggle the airplane mode. The actual SW radio
disablement is handled by the corresponding rtl818x_pci and btusb
drivers that have their own rfkills.

Tested on MSI Wind U100 Plus, BIOS ver 1.0G, EC ver 130.

Andy Shevchenko cdf5b9af92 platform/x86: wmi: Break possible infinite loop when parsing GUID
[ Upstream commit 028e6e204a ]

The while-loop may break on one of the two conditions, either ID string
is empty or GUID matches. The second one, may never be reached if the
parsed string is not correct GUID. In such a case the loop will never
advance to check the next ID.

Break possible infinite loop by factoring out guid_parse_and_compare()
helper which may be moved to the generic header for everyone later on
and preventing from similar mistake in the future.

Interestingly that firstly it appeared when WMI was turned into a bus
driver, but later when duplicated GUIDs were checked, the while-loop
has been replaced by for-loop and hence no mistake made again.
