Hans de Goede 705df757e9 gpiolib: acpi: Add gpiolib_acpi_run_edge_events_on_boot option and blacklist

Another day; another DSDT bug we need to workaround...

Since commit ca876c7483 ("gpiolib-acpi: make sure we trigger edge events
at least once on boot") we call _AEI edge handlers at boot.

In some rare cases this causes problems. One example of this is the Minix
Neo Z83-4 mini PC, this device has a clear DSDT bug where it has some copy
and pasted code for dealing with Micro USB-B connector host/device role
switching, while the mini PC does not even have a micro-USB connector.
This code, which should not be there, messes with the DDC data pin from
the HDMI connector (switching it to GPIO mode) breaking HDMI support.

To avoid problems like this, this commit adds a new
gpiolib_acpi.run_edge_events_on_boot kernel commandline option, which
allows disabling the running of _AEI edge event handlers at boot.

The default value is -1/auto which uses a DMI based blacklist, the initial
version of this blacklist contains the Neo Z83-4 fixing the HDMI breakage.

Bartosz Golaszewski 3783c7ee99 gpiolib: never report open-drain/source lines as 'input' to user-space
commit 2c60e6b5c9 upstream.

If the driver doesn't support open-drain/source config options, we
emulate this behavior when setting the direction by calling
gpiod_direction_input() if the default value is 0 (open-source) or
1 (open-drain), thus not actively driving the line in those cases.

This however clears the FLAG_IS_OUT bit for the GPIO line descriptor
and makes the LINEINFO ioctl() incorrectly report this line's mode as
'input' to user-space.

This commit modifies the ioctl() to always set the GPIOLINE_FLAG_IS_OUT
bit in the lineinfo structure's flags field. Since it's impossible to
use the input mode and open-drain/source options at the same time, we
can be sure the reported information will be correct.

Michael Wu fdb0fb56ad gpiolib: fix incorrect IRQ requesting of an active-low lineevent
commit 223ecaf140 upstream.

When a pin is active-low, logical trigger edge should be inverted to match
the same interrupt opportunity.

For example, a button pushed triggers falling edge in ACTIVE_HIGH case; in
ACTIVE_LOW case, the button pushed triggers rising edge. For user space the
IRQ requesting doesn't need to do any modification except to configuring
GPIOHANDLE_REQUEST_ACTIVE_LOW.

For example, we want to catch the event when the button is pushed. The
button on the original board drives level to be low when it is pushed, and
drives level to be high when it is released.

In user space we can do:

	req.handleflags = GPIOHANDLE_REQUEST_INPUT;
	req.eventflags = GPIOEVENT_REQUEST_FALLING_EDGE;

Run the same logic on another board which the polarity of the button is
inverted; it drives level to be high when pushed, and level to be low when
released. For this inversion we add flag GPIOHANDLE_REQUEST_ACTIVE_LOW:

		GPIOHANDLE_REQUEST_ACTIVE_LOW;
	req.eventflags = GPIOEVENT_REQUEST_FALLING_EDGE;

At the result, there are no any events caught when the button is pushed.
By the way, button releasing will emit a "falling" event. The timing of
"falling" catching is not expected.

Readd a similar reference to gpiod_set_value(), which was accidentally
removed by commit 1e77fc8211 ("gpio: Add missing open drain/source

Russell King 544cd592ca gpio: omap: ensure irq is enabled before wakeup

Documentation states:

  NOTE: There must be a correlation between the wake-up enable and
  interrupt-enable registers. If a GPIO pin has a wake-up configured
  on it, it must also have the corresponding interrupt enabled (on
  one of the two interrupt lines).

Ensure that this condition is always satisfied by enabling the detection
events after enabling the interrupt, and disabling the detection before
disabling the interrupt.  This ensures interrupt/wakeup events can not
happen until both the wakeup and interrupt enables correlate.

If we do any clearing, clear between the interrupt enable/disable and
trigger setting.

Russell King ddeef7a000 gpio: omap: fix lack of irqstatus_raw0 for OMAP4

Commit 384ebe1c28 ("gpio/omap: Add DT support to GPIO driver") added
the register definition tables to the gpio-omap driver. Subsequently to
that commit, commit 4e962e8998 ("gpio/omap: remove cpu_is_omapxxxx()
checks from *_runtime_resume()") added definitions for irqstatus_raw*
registers to the legacy OMAP4 definitions, but missed the DT
definitions.

This causes an unintentional change of behaviour for the 1.101 errata
workaround on OMAP4 platforms. Fix this oversight.

We are currently assuming all GPIOs are non-wakeup capable GPIOs as we
not configuring the bank->non_wakeup_gpios like we used to earlier with
platform_data.

Let's add omap_gpio_is_off_wakeup_capable() to make the handling clearer
while considering that later patches may want to configure SoC specific
bank->non_wakeup_gpios for the GPIOs in wakeup domain.

Anson Huang 53ffa56456 gpio: mxc: add check to return defer probe if clock tree NOT ready

Geert Uytterhoeven a918af5b6f gpio: of: Fix of_gpiochip_add() error path

If the call to of_gpiochip_scan_gpios() in of_gpiochip_add() fails, no
error handling is performed.  This lead to the need of callers to call
of_gpiochip_remove() on failure, which causes "BAD of_node_put() on ..."
if the failure happened before the call to of_node_get().

Fix this by adding proper error handling.

Note that calling gpiochip_remove_pin_ranges() multiple times causes no
harm: subsequent calls are a no-op.

Robert Jarzmik 93b7c72263 gpio: pxa: handle corner case of unprobed device

In the corner case where the gpio driver probe fails, for whatever
reason, the suspend and resume handlers will still be called as they
have to be registered as syscore operations. This applies as well when
no probe was called while the driver has been built in the kernel.

Therefore, add a failsafe in these function, and test if a proper probe
succeeded and the driver is functional.

Russell King 4c96500e36 gpio: gpio-omap: fix level interrupt idling

Tony notes that the GPIO module does not idle when level interrupts are
in use, as the wakeup appears to get stuck.

After extensive investigation, it appears that the wakeup will only be
cleared if the interrupt status register is cleared while the interrupt
is enabled. However, we are currently clearing it with the interrupt
disabled for level-based interrupts.

It is acknowledged that this observed behaviour conflicts with a
statement in the TRM:

CAUTION
  After servicing the interrupt, the status bit in the interrupt status
  register (GPIOi.GPIO_IRQSTATUS_0 or GPIOi.GPIO_IRQSTATUS_1) must be
  reset and the interrupt line released (by setting the corresponding
  bit of the interrupt status register to 1) before enabling an
  interrupt for the GPIO channel in the interrupt-enable register
  (GPIOi.GPIO_IRQSTATUS_SET_0 or GPIOi.GPIO_IRQSTATUS_SET_1) to prevent
  the occurrence of unexpected interrupts when enabling an interrupt
  for the GPIO channel.

However, this does not appear to be a practical problem.

Further, as reported by Grygorii Strashko <grygorii.strashko@ti.com>,
the TI Android kernel tree has an earlier similar patch as "GPIO: OMAP:
Fix the sequence to clear the IRQ status" saying:

 if the status is cleared after disabling the IRQ then sWAKEUP will not
 be cleared and gates the module transition

When we unmask the level interrupt after the interrupt has been handled,
enable the interrupt and only then clear the interrupt. If the interrupt
is still pending, the hardware will re-assert the interrupt status.

Should the caution note in the TRM prove to be a problem, we could
use a clear-enable-clear sequence instead.

Mark Walton 6f29e4c2db gpio: pca953x: Fix dereference of irq data in shutdown
commit c378b3aa01 upstream.

If a PCA953x gpio was used as an interrupt and then released,
the shutdown function was trying to extract the pca953x_chip
pointer directly from the irq_data, but in reality was getting
the gpio_chip structure.

The net effect was that the subsequent writes to the data
structure corrupted data in the gpio_chip structure, which wasn't
immediately obvious until attempting to use the GPIO again in the
future, at which point the kernel panics.

This fix correctly extracts the pca953x_chip structure via the
gpio_chip structure, as is correctly done in the other irq
functions.

Andrew Lunn eda52fa18e gpio: vf610: Mask all GPIO interrupts

On SoC reset all GPIO interrupts are disable. However, if kexec is
used to boot into a new kernel, the SoC does not experience a
reset. Hence GPIO interrupts can be left enabled from the previous
kernel. It is then possible for the interrupt to fire before an
interrupt handler is registered, resulting in the kernel complaining
of an "unexpected IRQ trap", the interrupt is never cleared, and so
fires again, resulting in an interrupt storm.

Disable all GPIO interrupts before registering the GPIO IRQ chip.

Anson Huang ede7fb4522 gpio: mxc: move gpio noirq suspend/resume to syscore phase

During noirq suspend/resume phase, GPIO irq could arrive
and its registers like IMR will be changed by irq handle
process, to make the GPIO registers exactly when it is
powered ON after resume, move the GPIO noirq suspend/resume
callback to syscore suspend/resume phase, local irq is
disabled at this phase so GPIO registers are atomic.

Muchun Song 3555de57dc gpiolib: Fix possible use after free on label

gpiod_request_commit() copies the pointer to the label passed as
an argument only to be used later. But there's a chance the caller
could immediately free the passed string(e.g., local variable).
This could trigger a use after free when we use gpio label(e.g.,
gpiochip_unlock_as_irq(), gpiochip_is_requested()).

To be on the safe side: duplicate the string with kstrdup_const()
so that if an unaware user passes an address to a stack-allocated
buffer, we won't get the arbitrary label.

Also fix gpiod_set_consumer_name().

Roger Quadros 95fcc1427d gpio: pcf857x: Fix interrupts on multiple instances

When multiple instances of pcf857x chips are present, a fix up
message [1] is printed during the probe of the 2nd and later
instances.

The issue is that the driver is using the same irq_chip data
structure between multiple instances.

Bartosz Golaszewski 452ad274c9 gpiolib: fix line event timestamps for nested irqs

Nested interrupts run inside the calling thread's context and the top
half handler is never called which means that we never read the
timestamp.

This issue came up when trying to read line events from a gpiochip
using regmap_irq_chip for interrupts.

Fix it by reading the timestamp from the irq thread function if it's
still 0 by the time the second handler is called.

Keeping the irq_chip definition static will make it shared with multiple
giochips in the system. This practice is considered to be bad and now we
will get the below warning from gpiolib core:

Hence, move the irq_chip definition from static to `struct pl061` for
using a unique irq_chip for each gpiochip.

Uwe Kleine-König ae247d6058 gpio: mvebu: only fail on missing clk if pwm is actually to be used

The gpio IP on Armada 370 at offset 0x18180 has neither a clk nor pwm
registers. So there is no need for a clk as the pwm isn't used anyhow.
So only check for the clk in the presence of the pwm registers. This fixes
a failure to probe the gpio driver for the above mentioned gpio device.

Hans de Goede 1f51527d02 gpiolib-acpi: Only defer request_irq for GpioInt ACPI event handlers
commit e59f5e08ec upstream.

Commit 78d3a92edb ("gpiolib-acpi: Register GpioInt ACPI event handlers
from a late_initcall") deferred the entire acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt
call for each event resource.

This means it also delays the gpiochip_request_own_desc(..., "ACPI:Event")
call. This is a problem if some AML code reads the GPIO pin before we
run the deferred acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt, because in that case
acpi_gpio_adr_space_handler() will already have called
gpiochip_request_own_desc(..., "ACPI:OpRegion") causing the call from
acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt to fail with -EBUSY and we will fail to
register an event handler.

acpi_gpio_adr_space_handler is prepared for acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt
already having claimed the pin, but the other way around does not work.

One example of a problem this causes, is the event handler for the OTG
ID pin on a Prowise PT301 tablet not registering, keeping the port stuck
in whatever mode it was in during boot and e.g. only allowing charging
after a reboot.

This commit fixes this by only deferring the request_irq call and the
initial run of edge-triggered IRQs instead of deferring all of
acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt.

spi_read() and spi_write() require DMA-safe memory. When
CONFIG_VMAP_STACK is selected, those functions cannot be used
with buffers on stack.

Robert Jarzmik b9284d6c30 gpio: pxa: fix legacy non pinctrl aware builds again

As pointed out by Gregor, spitz keyboard matrix is broken, with or
without CONFIG_PINCTRL set, quoting :
"The gpio matrix keypard on the Zaurus C3x00 (see spitz.c) does not work
properly. Noticeable are that rshift+c does nothing where as lshift+c
creates C.  Opposite it is for rshift+a vs lshift+a, here only rshift
works. This affects a few other combinations using the rshift or lshift
buttons."

As a matter of fact, as for platform_data based builds CONFIG_PINCTRL=n
is required for now (as opposed for devicetree builds where it should be
set), this means gpio driver should change the direction, which is what
was attempted by commit c4e5ffb6f2 ("gpio: pxa: fix legacy non pinctrl
aware builds").

Unfortunately, the input case was inverted, and the direction change was
never done. This wasn't seen up until now because the initial platform
setup (MFP) was setting this direction. Yet in Gregory's case, the
matrix-keypad driver changes back and forth the direction dynamically,
and this is why he's the first to report it.

The change corrects the error path in gpiochip_add_data_with_key()
by avoiding to call ida_simple_remove(), if ida_simple_get() returns
an error.

Note that ida_simple_remove()/ida_free() throws a BUG(), if id argument
is negative, it allows to easily check the correctness of the fix by
fuzzing the return value from ida_simple_get().

Justin Chen 545a030314 gpio: brcmstb: allow 0 width GPIO banks

Sometimes we have empty banks within the GPIO block. This commit allows
proper handling of 0 width GPIO banks. We handle 0 width GPIO banks by
incrementing the bank and number of GPIOs, but not initializing them.
This will mean a call into the non-existent GPIOs will return an error.

Also remove "GPIO registered" dev print. This information is misleading
since the incremented banks and gpio_base do not reflect the actual GPIOs
that get initialized. We leave this information out since it is already
printed with dev_dbg.

its irqchip. This is not very elegant, as we are a driver,
let's just shortcut back into the gpio_chip .get() function
instead.

This is a tricky case since the .get() callback is not in
this file, instead assigned by bgpio_init(). Calling the
function direcly in the gpio_chip is however the lesser
evil.

gpiochip_set_cascaded_irqchip() is passed 'parent_irq' as an argument
and then the address of that argument is assigned to the gpio chips

Let's leave around one unsigned int in the gpio_irq_chip struct for the
single parent irq case and repoint the 'parents' array at it. This way

One way to fix this would be to rework the hairy registration sequence
in gpiochip_add_data_with_key(), but since I'd probably introduce a
couple of new bugs if I attempted that, simply add a check for a
non-NULL of_xlate function pointer in
of_gpiochip_match_node_and_xlate().  This works since the driver looking
for the gpio will simply fail to find the gpio and defer its probe and
be reprobed when the driver which is registering the gpiochip has fully
completed its probe.

Hans de Goede 78d3a92edb gpiolib-acpi: Register GpioInt ACPI event handlers from a late_initcall
GpioInt ACPI event handlers may see there IRQ triggered immediately
after requesting the IRQ (esp. level triggered ones). This means that they
may run before any other (builtin) drivers have had a chance to register
their OpRegion handlers, leading to errors like this:

We already defer the manual initial trigger of edge triggered interrupts
by running it from a late_initcall handler, this commit replaces this with
deferring the entire acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupts() call till then,
fixing the problem of some OpRegions not being registered yet.

Note that this removes the need to have a list of edge triggered handlers
which need to run, since the entire acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupts() call
is now delayed, acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt() can call these directly
now.

Andy Shevchenko 993b9bc5c4 gpiolib: acpi: Switch to cansleep version of GPIO library call
The commit ca876c7483

  ("gpiolib-acpi: make sure we trigger edge events at least once on boot")

added a initial value check for pin which is about to be locked as IRQ.
Unfortunately, not all GPIO drivers can do that atomically. Thus,
switch to cansleep version of the call. Otherwise we have a warning:
