Xiubo Li eb55ba8aa7 ceph: fix deadlock or deadcode of misusing dget()
[ Upstream commit b493ad718b ]

The lock order is incorrect between denty and its parent, we should
always make sure that the parent get the lock first.

But since this deadcode is never used and the parent dir will always
be set from the callers, let's just remove it.

Xiubo Li 2d0507cdd6 ceph: fix incorrect revoked caps assert in ceph_fill_file_size()
commit 15c0a870dc upstream.

When truncating the inode the MDS will acquire the xlock for the
ifile Locker, which will revoke the 'Frwsxl' caps from the clients.
But when the client just releases and flushes the 'Fw' caps to MDS,
for exmaple, and once the MDS receives the caps flushing msg it
just thought the revocation has finished. Then the MDS will continue
truncating the inode and then issued the truncate notification to
all the clients. While just before the clients receives the cap
flushing ack they receive the truncation notification, the clients
will detecte that the 'issued | dirty' is still holding the 'Fw'
caps.

Xiubo Li 223210b336 ceph: don't let check_caps skip sending responses for revoke msgs
commit 257e6172ab upstream.

If a client sends out a cap update dropping caps with the prior 'seq'
just before an incoming cap revoke request, then the client may drop
the revoke because it believes it's already released the requested
capabilities.

This causes the MDS to wait indefinitely for the client to respond
to the revoke. It's therefore always a good idea to ack the cap
revoke request with the bumped up 'seq'.

Xiubo Li cf7bb10995 ceph: fix use-after-free bug for inodes when flushing capsnaps

There is a race between capsnaps flush and removing the inode from

                                handle_cap_flushsnap_ack()
                                 ->iput('&ci->vfs_inode')
                                   this also will release 'ci'
                                    ...
				      == Thread D ==
                                ceph_handle_snap()
                                 ->flush_snaps()
                                  ->iterate 'mdsc->snap_flush_list'
                                   ->get the stale 'ci'
 ->remove 'ci' from                ->ihold(&ci->vfs_inode) this
   'mdsc->snap_flush_list'           will WARNING

To fix this we will increase the inode's i_count ref when adding 'ci'
to the 'mdsc->snap_flush_list' list.

Xiubo Li e50d34cacd ceph: do not update snapshot context when there is no new snapshot
[ Upstream commit 2e586641c9 ]

We will only track the uppest parent snapshot realm from which we
need to rebuild the snapshot contexts _downward_ in hierarchy. For
all the others having no new snapshot we will do nothing.

This fix will avoid calling ceph_queue_cap_snap() on some inodes
inappropriately. For example, with the code in mainline, suppose there
are 2 directory hierarchies (with 6 directories total), like this:

/dir_X1/dir_X2/dir_X3/
/dir_Y1/dir_Y2/dir_Y3/

Firstly, make a snapshot under /dir_X1/dir_X2/.snap/snap_X2, then make a
root snapshot under /.snap/root_snap. Every time we make snapshots under
/dir_Y1/..., the kclient will always try to rebuild the snap context for
snap_X2 realm and finally will always try to queue cap snaps for dir_Y2
and dir_Y3, which makes no sense.

That's because the snap_X2's seq is 2 and root_snap's seq is 3. So when
creating a new snapshot under /dir_Y1/... the new seq will be 4, and
the mds will send the kclient a snapshot backtrace in _downward_
order: seqs 4, 3.

When ceph_update_snap_trace() is called, it will always rebuild the from
the last realm, that's the root_snap. So later when rebuilding the snap
context, the current logic will always cause it to rebuild the snap_X2
realm and then try to queue cap snaps for all the inodes related in that
realm, even though it's not necessary.

This is accompanied by a lot of these sorts of dout messages:

    "ceph:  queue_cap_snap 00000000a42b796b nothing dirty|writing"

Fix the logic to avoid this situation.

Also, the 'invalidate' word is not precise here. In actuality, it will
cause a rebuild of the existing snapshot contexts or just build
non-existent ones. Rename it to 'rebuild_snapcs'.

Venky Shankar 9266323283 ceph: allow ceph.dir.rctime xattr to be updatable
[ Upstream commit d7a2dc5230 ]

`rctime' has been a pain point in cephfs due to its buggy
nature - inconsistent values reported and those sorts.
Fixing rctime is non-trivial needing an overall redesign
of the entire nested statistics infrastructure.

As a workaround, PR

     http://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/37938

allows this extended attribute to be manually set. This allows
users to "fixup" inconsistent rctime values. While this sounds
messy, its probably the wisest approach allowing users/scripts
to workaround buggy rctime values.

The above PR enables Ceph MDS to allow manually setting
rctime extended attribute with the corresponding user-land
changes. We may as well allow the same to be done via kclient
for parity.

Luis Henriques 53a27c6faf ceph: fix race in concurrent __ceph_remove_cap invocations
commit e5cafce3ad upstream.

A NULL pointer dereference may occur in __ceph_remove_cap with some of the
callbacks used in ceph_iterate_session_caps, namely trim_caps_cb and
remove_session_caps_cb. Those callers hold the session->s_mutex, so they
are prevented from concurrent execution, but ceph_evict_inode does not.

Since the callers of this function hold the i_ceph_lock, the fix is simply
a matter of returning immediately if caps->ci is NULL.

Xiubo Li d033576669 ceph: fix potential mdsc use-after-free crash
[ Upstream commit fa99677342 ]

Make sure the delayed work stopped before releasing the resources.

cancel_delayed_work_sync() will only guarantee that the work finishes
executing if the work is already in the ->worklist. That means after
the cancel_delayed_work_sync() returns, it will leave the work requeued
if it was rearmed at the end. That can lead to a use after free once the
work struct is freed.

Fix it by flushing the delayed work instead of trying to cancel it, and
ensure that the work doesn't rearm if the mdsc is stopping.

Ilya Dryomov 4eeddc6229 ceph: canonicalize server path in place
commit b27a939e83 upstream.

syzbot reported that 4fbc0c711b ("ceph: remove the extra slashes in
the server path") had caused a regression where an allocation could be
done under a spinlock -- compare_mount_options() is called by sget_fc()
with sb_lock held.

We don't really need the supplied server path, so canonicalize it
in place and compare it directly. To make this work, the leading
slash is kept around and the logic in ceph_real_mount() to skip it
is restored. CEPH_MSG_CLIENT_SESSION now reports the same (i.e.
canonicalized) path, with the leading slash of course.

Xiubo Li 420343650d ceph: remove the extra slashes in the server path
commit 4fbc0c711b upstream.

It's possible to pass the mount helper a server path that has more
than one contiguous slash character. For example:

  $ mount -t ceph 192.168.195.165:40176:/// /mnt/cephfs/

In the MDS server side the extra slashes of the server path will be
treated as snap dir, and then we can get the following debug logs:

  ceph:  mount opening path //
  ceph:  open_root_inode opening '//'
  ceph:  fill_trace 0000000059b8a3bc is_dentry 0 is_target 1
  ceph:  alloc_inode 00000000dc4ca00b
  ceph:  get_inode created new inode 00000000dc4ca00b 1.ffffffffffffffff ino 1
  ceph:  get_inode on 1=1.ffffffffffffffff got 00000000dc4ca00b

And then when creating any new file or directory under the mount
point, we can hit the following BUG_ON in ceph_fill_trace():

  BUG_ON(ceph_snap(dir) != dvino.snap);

Have the client ignore the extra slashes in the server path when
mounting. This will also canonicalize the path, so that identical mounts
can be consilidated.

1) "//mydir1///mydir//"
2) "/mydir1/mydir"
3) "/mydir1/mydir/"

Regardless of the internal treatment of these paths, the kernel still
stores the original string including the leading '/' for presentation
to userland.

Ilya Dryomov 1e2d0c5098 ceph: check POOL_FLAG_FULL/NEARFULL in addition to OSDMAP_FULL/NEARFULL
commit 7614209736 upstream.

CEPH_OSDMAP_FULL/NEARFULL aren't set since mimic, so we need to consult
per-pool flags as well. Unfortunately the backwards compatibility here
is lacking:

- the change that deprecated OSDMAP_FULL/NEARFULL went into mimic, but
  was guarded by require_osd_release >= RELEASE_LUMINOUS
- it was subsequently backported to luminous in v12.2.2, but that makes
  no difference to clients that only check OSDMAP_FULL/NEARFULL because
  require_osd_release is not client-facing -- it is for OSDs

Since all kernels are affected, the best we can do here is just start
checking both map flags and pool flags and send that to stable.

These checks are best effort, so take osdc->lock and look up pool flags
just once. Remove the FIXME, since filesystem quotas are checked above
and RADOS quotas are reflected in POOL_FLAG_FULL: when the pool reaches
its quota, both POOL_FLAG_FULL and POOL_FLAG_FULL_QUOTA are set.

Xiubo Li 68983ba2c7 ceph: check availability of mds cluster on mount after wait timeout
[ Upstream commit 97820058fb ]

If all the MDS daemons are down for some reason, then the first mount
attempt will fail with EIO after the mount request times out. A mount
attempt will also fail with EIO if all of the MDS's are laggy.

This patch changes the code to return -EHOSTUNREACH in these situations
and adds a pr_info error message to help the admin determine the cause.

Luis Henriques 8112f3d4ed ceph: only allow punch hole mode in fallocate
[ Upstream commit bddff633ab ]

Current implementation of cephfs fallocate isn't correct as it doesn't
really reserve the space in the cluster, which means that a subsequent
call to a write may actually fail due to lack of space. In fact, it is
currently possible to fallocate an amount space that is larger than the
free space in the cluster. It has behaved this way since the initial
commit ad7a60de88 ("ceph: punch hole support").

Since there's no easy solution to fix this at the moment, this patch
simply removes support for all fallocate operations but
FALLOC_FL_PUNCH_HOLE (which implies FALLOC_FL_KEEP_SIZE).

Luis Henriques 6f9657793a ceph: fix use-after-free in __ceph_remove_cap()

KASAN reports a use-after-free when running xfstest generic/531, with the
following trace:

[  293.903417]  entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xa9

This happens because __ceph_remove_cap() may queue a cap release
(__ceph_queue_cap_release) which can be scheduled before that cap is
removed from the inode list with

	rb_erase(&cap->ci_node, &ci->i_caps);

And, when this finally happens, the use-after-free will occur.

This can be fixed by removing the cap from the inode list before being
removed from the session list, and thus eliminating the risk of an UAF.

When filling an inode with info from the MDS, i_blkbits is being
initialized using fl_stripe_unit, which contains the stripe unit in
bytes. Unfortunately, this doesn't make sense for directories as they
have fl_stripe_unit set to '0'. This means that i_blkbits will be set
to 0xff, causing an UBSAN undefined behaviour in i_blocksize():

Yan, Zheng 950eec8126 ceph: fix ci->i_head_snapc leak
commit 37659182bf upstream.

We missed two places that i_wrbuffer_ref_head, i_wr_ref, i_dirty_caps
and i_flushing_caps may change. When they are all zeros, we should free
i_head_snapc.
