The m32r kernel 2.6.18-rc1 or after cause build errors of "unknown isa
configuration" for userspace application programs, such as glibc, gdb, etc.
This is because the recent kernel do not include linux/config.h not to expose
kernel headers for userspace.
To fix the above compile errors, this patch fixes two headers ptrace.h and
sigcontext.h for m32r and makes them platform-independent.

For policy routing, packets originating from this machine itself may be
routed differently to packets passing through. We want this packet to be
routed as if it came from this machine itself. So re-compute the routing
information using ip_route_me_harder().

b4c4ed175f ([NETFILTER]: add type parameter

ufs2 fails to mount on x86_64, claiming bad magic. This is because
ufs_super_block_third's fs_un1 member is padded out by 4 bytes for 8-byte
alignment, pushing down the rest of the struct.
Forcing this to be packed solves it. I took a quick look over other
on-disk structures and didn't immediately find other problems. I was able
to mount & ls a populated ufs2 filesystem w/ this change.

When I added the robust futex syscall entries I forgot to bump
NR_SYSCALLS. This is an easy mistake to make because NR_SYSCALLS
lived in entry.S which is nowhere near unistd.h or syscalls.S, so
while we're here move it's definition into unistd.h so this is
unlikely to ever happen again.

The temp_priority field in zone is racy, as we can walk through a reclaim
path, and just before we copy it into prev_priority, it can be overwritten
(say with DEF_PRIORITY) by another reclaimer.
The same bug is contained in both try_to_free_pages and balance_pgdat, but
it is fixed slightly differently. In balance_pgdat, we keep a separate
priority record per zone in a local array. In try_to_free_pages there is
no need to do this, as the priority level is the same for all zones that we
reclaim from.
Impact of this bug is that temp_priority is copied into prev_priority, and
setting this artificially high causes reclaimers to set distress
artificially low. They then fail to reclaim mapped pages, when they are,
in fact, under severe memory pressure (their priority may be as low as 0).
This causes the OOM killer to fire incorrectly.

__zone_reclaim() isn't modifying zone->prev_priority. But zone->prev_priority
is used in the decision whether or not to bring mapped pages onto the inactive
list. Hence there's a risk here that __zone_reclaim() will fail because
zone->prev_priority ir large (ie: low urgency) and lots of mapped pages end up
stuck on the active list.
Fix that up by decreasing (ie making more urgent) zone->prev_priority as
__zone_reclaim() scans the zone's pages.
This bug perhaps explains why ZONE_RECLAIM_PRIORITY was created. It should be
possible to remove that now, and to just start out at DEF_PRIORITY?

[SERIAL] Fix oops when removing suspended serial port
A serial card might have been removed when the system is resumed.
This results in a suspended port being shut down, which results in
the ports shutdown method being called twice in a row. This causes
BUGs. Avoid this by tracking the suspended state separately from
the initialised state.

The clocksource infrastructure introduced with commit
ad596171ed broke 31 bit s390.
The reason is that the do_div() primitive for 31 bit always
had a restriction: it could only divide an unsigned 64 bit
integer by an unsigned 31 bit integer. The clocksource code
now uses do_div() with a base value that has the most
significant bit set. The result is that clock->cycle_interval
has a funny value which causes the linux time to jump around
like mad.
The solution is "obvious": implement a proper __div64_32
function for 31 bit s390.

Assume that a cpu is *physically* offlined at boot time...
Because smpboot.c::smp_boot_cpu_map() canoot find cpu's sapicid,
numa.c::build_cpu_to_node_map() cannot build cpu<->node map for
offlined cpu.
For such cpus, cpu_to_node map should be fixed at cpu-hot-add.
This mapping should be done before cpu onlining.
This patch also handles cpu hotremove case.

Ulrich Weigand found a bug with the current version of the
asm-powerpc/ptrace.h that prevents building at least the
SPU target version of gdb, since some ptrace opcodes are
not defined.
The problem seems to have originated in the merging of 32 and
64 bit versions of that file, the problem is that some opcodes
are only valid on 64 bit kernels, but are also used by 32 bit
programs, so they can't depends on the __powerpc64__ symbol.

Currently one can enable slab reclaim by setting an explicit option in
/proc/sys/vm/zone_reclaim_mode. Slab reclaim is then used as a final
option if the freeing of unmapped file backed pages is not enough to free
enough pages to allow a local allocation.
However, that means that the slab can grow excessively and that most memory
of a node may be used by slabs. We have had a case where a machine with
46GB of memory was using 40-42GB for slab. Zone reclaim was effective in
dealing with pagecache pages. However, slab reclaim was only done during
global reclaim (which is a bit rare on NUMA systems).
This patch implements slab reclaim during zone reclaim. Zone reclaim
occurs if there is a danger of an off node allocation. At that point we
1. Shrink the per node page cache if the number of pagecache
pages is more than min_unmapped_ratio percent of pages in a zone.
2. Shrink the slab cache if the number of the nodes reclaimable slab pages
(patch depends on earlier one that implements that counter)
are more than min_slab_ratio (a new /proc/sys/vm tunable).
The shrinking of the slab cache is a bit problematic since it is not node
specific. So we simply calculate what point in the slab we want to reach
(current per node slab use minus the number of pages that neeed to be
allocated) and then repeately run the global reclaim until that is
unsuccessful or we have reached the limit. I hope we will have zone based
slab reclaim at some point which will make that easier.
The default for the min_slab_ratio is 5%
Also remove the slab option from /proc/sys/vm/zone_reclaim_mode.

This patch includes xt_SECMARK.h and xt_CONNSECMARK.h to the kernel
headers which are exported via 'make headers_install'. This is needed to
allow userland code to be built correctly with these features.

Alpha currently fails 'make headers_check' in the 2.6.18-rc kernels. This
patch fixes it, by moving the existing #ifdef __KERNEL__ in asm/page.h so that
it covers everything that userspace shouldn't so, and by adding asm/compiler.h
to the list of exported files so that its use within asm/byteorder.h is
successful.
[ Note that at least with GCC 4, <linux/compiler.h> doesn't do the forced
inlining about which there are nasty comments (and a workaround) in
<asm/compiler.h>, unless you set CONFIG_FORCED_INLINING. Rather than keep
the mess you have in <asm/compiler.h> you could perhaps just make sure
CONFIG_FORCED_INLINING=n is also honoured with GCC3, and make sure it cannot
be set for Alpha? ]

Again, move stuff which shouldn't be visible inside (mostly already existing)

This fixes a bunch of mislabelled and unlabelled #endifs in unistd.h and also
cleans that up to conform with what's visible on other architectures, since
the minimal fix for the error reported about would have involved a more
intrusive patch, renesting other ifdefs.

MIPS asm/page.h unconditionally includes <asm-generic/memory_model.h>, which
doesn't exist in userspace. Move an #endif /* __KERNEL__ */ down a few lines
to prevent that.
Also, remove the broken definition of PAGE_SIZE which is never going to be
correct -- in the absence of PAGE_SIZE, non-broken userspace will fall back to
using sysconf() or getpagesize() instead.

The header file <linux/pfn.h> doesn't exist in userspace and probably
shouldn't -- but it's used unconditionally in <asm-i386/setup.h>. Protect it
with #ifdef __KERNEL__ and move setup.h from $(header-y) to $(unifdef-y) in
Kbuild accordingly.

in asm-i386/elf.h. Move the offending #includes down a few lines so that
they're protected by #ifdef __KERNEL__
In fact, we probably want to kill off all userspace use of asm/elf.h -- but we
aren't there yet, so we should at least make it possible to include it for
now.

There's useful stuff in <linux/timex.h> but <asm/timex.h> has nothing for
userspace. Stop exporting it, and include it only from within the existing
#ifdef __KERNEL__ part of <linux/timex.h>
This fixes a 'make headers_check' failure on i386 because asm-i386/timex.h
includes both asm-i386/tsc.h and asm-i386/processor.h, neither of which are
exported to userspace. It's not entirely clear _why_ it includes either of
these, but it does.

We don't need any of this crap included from the user-visible part of nfs_fs.h
-- remove it all.
In fact, we probably don't need anything but NFS_SUPER_MAGIC to be defined; is
there any need for anything else? And magic numbers should probably move to
<linux/magic.h> rather than being strewn across various fs-specific include
files which exist in userspace for solely that purpose.
With this patch, 'make header_check' works again at least on PowerPC.

This changes the writeX family of functions to have a sync instruction
before the MMIO store rather than after, because the generally expected
behaviour is that the device receiving the MMIO store can be guaranteed
to see the effects of any preceding writes to normal memory.
To preserve ordering between writeX and readX, and to preserve ordering
between preceding stores and the readX, the readX family of functions
have had an sync added before the load.
Although writeX followed by spin_unlock is not officially guaranteed
to keep the writeX inside the spin-locked region unless an mmiowb()
is used, there are currently drivers that depend on the previous
behaviour on powerpc, which was that the mmiowb wasn't actually required.
Therefore we have a per-cpu flag that is set by writeX, cleared by
__raw_spin_lock and mmiowb, and tested by __raw_spin_unlock. If it is
set, __raw_spin_unlock does a sync and clears it.
This changes both 32-bit and 64-bit readX/writeX. 32-bit already has a
sync in __raw_spin_unlock (since lwsync doesn't exist on 32-bit), and thus
doesn't need the per-cpu flag.
Tested on G5 (PPC970) and POWER5.
