ARM SoC driver specific changes
These changes are all driver specific and cross over between arm-soc contents and some other subsystem, in these cases cpufreq, crypto, dma, pinctrl, mailbox and usb, and the subsystem owners agreed to have these changes merged through arm-soc. As we proceed to untangle the dependencies between platform code and driver code, the amount of changes in this category is fortunately shrinking, for 3.11 we have 16 branches here and 101 non-merge changesets, the majority of which are for the stedma40 dma engine driver used in the ux500 platform. Cleaning up that code touches multiple subsystems, but gets rid of the dependency in the end. The mailbox code moved out from mach-omap2 to drivers/mailbox is an intermediate step and is still omap specific at the moment. Patches exist to generalize the subsystem and add other drivers with the same API, but those did not make it for 3.11. Conflicts: * In cpu-db8500.c results from the removal of the u8500_of_init_devices function in combination with the split of u8500_auxdata_lookup. * In arch/arm/mach-omap2/devices.c, the includes got reshuffled. we need to keep linux/wl12xx.h and linux/platform_data/mailbox-omap.h. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQIVAwUAUdLnomCrR//JCVInAQJI/A/9FydsQa9sdnzLFgcdX5BeRRwkXLfDifCM zDTfUBo+LriKOs7QHblmDg1MnY1UMB2IfrdHD0FsjK7WbZ/91EMAGDPYcI7Fu4+u pGStxwWi2v+oCT1jjeOkCPT7hdCqogsSpybYq8itSb+zdvdOi6U35dWEKz8xGqz4 vTL9gTZbJP0kowkjIcaryk7FIj7BTIvMCW8n55JZEkDe0BuSJGYn5c3Mntut12ZK 5xM2PeNe2sd3dIdA6XbM2ye/XmYa8xY8Qu4/ijxfH1gnJLvz9Unp96nRXpEbIeMb BH2Sro8dxsMCaweIQhSRKGnUWMYO/Rh7/+5EqzJ163Ezthx9nvHXJY2ndWuD7uM1 IcGrMxLtqP22TEMtZAVEATDp/5ymxEo5GM+eayUojQDn213wOJjRs5xz5IBsH4KM 8CM/gpadWmLjWku72yEV4lryLcdS0NVQzpTnEbILEGOU4u7qJtxRAp7x7tWBtFg8 4m/eWcSVk/U2SYbXmQHsfukuWgKY0cnZbctPcdnaqXwTP7toJEAK3gxoMtWh49Jq 2M2PVFyFejaaq5b/71wAJ7ePYw56H0N/F3RsGpPE55AY15++gSoQ+3t2Si68hDw8 NtyJMkQYpTvtqJbHXWpQQ3Zfs7pDBe01WDV7i+m4JTNggxUDaO/t1Fqp+fEksm4J r+luEf5Gcgk= =mJsI -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'drivers-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC driver specific changes from Arnd Bergmann: "These changes are all driver specific and cross over between arm-soc contents and some other subsystem, in these cases cpufreq, crypto, dma, pinctrl, mailbox and usb, and the subsystem owners agreed to have these changes merged through arm-soc. ARM SoC specific changes
These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on 17 platforms were pulled into this. Like last time, Renesas sh-mobile is now the platform with the most changes, followed by OMAP and EXYNOS. Two new platforms, TI Keystone and Rockchips RK3xxx are added in this branch, both containing almost no platform specific code at all, since they are using generic subsystem interfaces for clocks, pinctrl, interrupts etc. The device drivers are getting merged through the respective subsystem maintainer trees. One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others (shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving towards that goal with this series but need more work. Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part of the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni, we can now more easily have PCI host controller drivers as loadable modules and keep them separate from the platform code in drivers/pci/host. This has already led to the discovery that three platforms (exynos, spear and imx) are actually using an identical PCIe host controller and will be able to share a driver once support for spear and imx is added. Conflicts: * asm/glue-proc.h has one CPU type getting added that conflicts with another addition in 3.10-rc7 * Simple context changes in arch/arm/Makefile and arch/arm/Kconfig -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQIVAwUAUdLnpmCrR//JCVInAQLoFRAAyatR+MhVFwc91cO7yDw/mz81RO1V9jEd QMufoWi0BRfBsubqxnGlb510EEMTz7gxdrlYPILYNr8TqR+lNGhjKt2FQAjN3q2O IBvu4x8C+xcxnMNbkCnTQRxP/ziK6yCI6e7enQhwuMuJwvsnJtGbsqKi5ODMw6x0 o5EQmIdj5NhhSJqJZPCmWsKbx100TH1UwaEnhNl0DSaFj51n3bVRrK6Nxce10GWZ HsS1/a63lq/YZLkwfUEvgin/PU9Jx5jMmqhlp3bZjG+f1ItdzJF+9IgS248vCIi2 ystzWCH88Kh69UFcYFfCjeZe8H45XcP+Zykd8WC0DvF/a7Hwk5KTKE/ciT6RPRxb rkWW5EwjqZL9w9cU3rUHWtSVenayQMMEmCfksadr1AExyCrhPqfs9RINyBs2lK5a q2bdSFbXZsNzSyL+3yQAfChvRo1/2FdlFVQy+oVUCActV7L77Y7y6jl+b2qzFsSu xMKwvC/1vDXTvOnGk6A/qJu7yrHpqJrvw1eI+wnMswNBl7lCTgyyHnr5y8S092jI KU4hmSxsYP+y13HmKy4ewPy9DYJYBTSdReKfEFo79Dx8eqySAWjHFL/OPRqhCUYS kBq0eZpVZO7tJnHRaRz8n93wIYzb1UOhhgVwxdjPZF9L4d/jzh1BCv0OBWv8IXCu uWLAi92lL24= =0r9S -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'soc-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC specific changes from Arnd Bergmann: "These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on 17 platforms were pulled into this. ARM SoC cleanups
This contains cleanups as preparation for other branches adding new features, we pulled 16 branches for 9 platforms into this one. Most notable here is the removal of support for ATAGS based OMAP4 systems. Since all OMAP4 machines are fully functional with DT based booting in 3.10, we can remove a lot of code here. Also noteworthy is Maxime Ripard's cleanup of the machine descriptors, which means we need no machine descriptors in a lot more cases and can boot additional machines by just having the respective device drivers enabled. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQIVAwUAUdLnoGCrR//JCVInAQL5bw/+OZeE60sBJxgDAf9XEYls9t5cnLY963uE izgsyLKwwAi21Xbg/0vgGZLbpdfyd2IJa+bWXhxVTLFI43Hb0D2x1hYyMzy/fFWj gmqQ4dLYawYj+1sOirTPWDquR31mavofmMF2HVk23S6NWmNIjPk1+7Wgd46Y4vNX 7T6j4cg9HPrxQ37a6ucOuEX6+rqmFe2Q+v7qcsXkwxkVxgIC8V4MgHJmt8gGMRvB HHrY1kPBHlMJm07fLngilAfpa8G91fmgKxSfugeClyKotj7lHxno/lh/+oxMGvaJ J9memdfbYISLSvDLeH6Rib/zaC7VnSij9QtZmFtToiJ6qVVZiLFd2dpP+ccpaMGb YEvm58ayajAvb0wZMueoeKs9yW0UWCdXdkzKbhuWrwmPDjKSb9f9t1u3ons8vl+2 dOwlTex9/ijsxu1qTHMm4/EVg+NR/AwVVwiBRG9sYnfxSHkgXxPW5TF7T4d1H71v WZkXWsJKIUDQgk+2nnE4J9TvFlPyaV09yFYyiY/+DWAs9DUus8cf37nt2Wz6H1l6 THQcQDcZsPLZsSIEdzUrchdLKDZHzhkb3i8pae7TC6CySiOzj/yX2zbh9Ot538WG 2C7qzAVtyMVuAdFh0caIu0iVXqjsnJLAZGImLZQySR00aq34uXh7MsHepnhAI10q EQ1vILi4mU4= =XDJs -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'cleanup-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Arnd Bergmann: "This contains cleanups as preparation for other branches adding new features, we pulled 16 branches for 9 platforms into this one. Staging tree merge for 3.11-rc1
Here's the large staging tree merge for 3.11-rc1 Huge thing here is the Lustre client code. Unfortunatly, due to it not building properly on a wide variety of different architectures (this was production code???), it is currently disabled from the build so as to not annoy people. Other than Lustre, there are loads of comedi patches, working to clean up that subsystem, iio updates and new drivers, and a load of cleanups from the OPW applicants in their quest to get a summer internship. All of these have been in the linux-next releases for a while (hence the Lustre code being disabled.) ARM: edma: Add EDMA crossbar event mux support
EDMA supports a cross bar which provides ability to mux additional events into physical channels present in the channel controller. This is required when the number of events present in the system are more than number of available physical channels. DaVinci SoC changes for v3.11
This pull request moves DaVinci EDMA library to arch/arm/common so it can be used by OMAP based AM335x. ARM: OMAP2+: add user and fifo info to mailbox platform data
The different generations of OMAP2+ SoCs have almost the same mailbox IP, but the IP has configurable parameters for number of users (interrupts it can generate out towards processors) and number of fifos (the base unidirectional h/w communication channel). This data cannot be read from any registers, and so has been added to the platform data. This data together with the interrupt-type configuration can be used in properly figuring out the number of registers to save and restore in the OMAP mailbox driver code. ARM: OMAP2+: mbox: remove dependencies with soc.h
The OMAP mailbox platform driver code has been cleaned up to remove the dependencies with soc.h in preparation for moving the mailbox code to drivers folder. The code relied on cpu_is_xxx/soc_is_xxx macros previously to pick the the right set of mailbox devices and register with the mailbox driver. This data is now represented in a concise format and moved to the respective omap_hwmod data files and published to the driver through the platform data. phy-rcar-usb: add R8A7778 support
The driver currently only supports R8A7779 SoC. Compared to it, R8A7778 USB-PHY has extra register range containing two high-speed signal quality characteristic control registers which should be set up during USB-PHY startup depending on whether a ferrite bead is in use or not. So, we now handle an optional second memory range in the driver's probe method, add the 'ferrite_bead' field to the driver's platform data, and add an extra (optional) step to the USB-PHY startup routine which sets up the extended registers. Also mark in the driver's Kconfig section that R8A7778 is now supported and generally clarify that section, uppercasing the word "phy" and also changing the module name that got lost in the big driver rename, while at it... The patch has been tested on the Marzen and BOCK-W boards. phy-rcar-usb: add platform data
Currently the driver hard-codes USBPCTRL0 register to 0. It is wrong since this register contains board-specific USB ports configuration and so its value should be somehow passed via the platform data. gpio-rcar: Add RCAR_GP_PIN macro
Pins are numbered in the R-Car family documentation using a bank number and a pin number in the bank. As the Linux pin number space is linear, we need to flatten this by multiplying the bank number by 32 and adding the pin number. The resulting number bear no directly visible relationship to the documentation, making it error-prone. Add a RCAR_GP_PIN macro to convert from the documentation pin number space to the linear Linux space. gpio-rcar: Add support for IRQ_TYPE_EDGE_BOTH
As hardware support for this feature is not universal for all SoCs a flag, has_both_edge_trigger, has been added to the platform data of the driver to allow this feature to be enabled. dmaengine: ste_dma40: Allow memcpy channels to be configured from DT
At this moment in time the memcpy channels which can be used by the D40 are fixed, as each supported platform in Mainline uses the same ones. However, platforms do exist which don't follow this convention, so these will need to be tailored. Fortunately, these platforms will be DT only, so this change has very little impact on platform data. dmaengine: ste_dma40: Convert data_width from register bit format to value
When a DMA client requests and configures a DMA channel, it requests data_width in Bytes. The DMA40 driver then swiftly converts it over to the necessary register bit value. Unfortunately, for any subsequent calculations we have to shift '1' by the bit pattern (1 << data_width) times to make any sense of it. This patch flips the semantics on its head and only converts the value to its respective register bit pattern when writing to registers. This way we can use the true data_width (in Bytes) value. ARM: arm-soc platform updates for 3.10, part 2
These patches are all for Renesas shmobile, and depend on the earlier pinctrl updates. Remarkably, this adds support for three new SoCs: r8a73a4, r8a73a4 and r8a7778. The bulk of the code added for these is for pinctrl (using the new subsystem) and for clocks (not yet using the common clock subsystem). The latter will have to get converted in one of the upcoming releases, but shmobile is not ready for that yet. The series also contains Renesas shmobile board changes, adding one board file for each of the three new SoCs. These boards are using a mix of classic and device-tree based probing, as there is still a lot of infrastructure in shmobile that has not been converted to DT yet. Once those are resolved to the degree that no board specific setup code is needed, they can get folded into the respective SoC setup files. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQIVAwUAUYghoGCrR//JCVInAQIS0hAAoTaH/IgTmKMsKuP1fS/zhsXNSioO77GR 5KnEigaprC7JJK4k+Ahl6xVY/6/RmjWA3aLJ6eqBHHsupE1c5AOgDxIB78PtY8gn vS+oKPqUlYi9bMJRp6LDsr23filt1Ri6woVYnW7htFsfXZIqxf+x6OlMKGULC4Zv 469rx/mgUB7IH/uwp8Jasr7xtE4hnjtgoUIqAKRmE10dLUTAuCN5+SABhlKMZIbl W5VimdiDK6pNm2ENPcJQhTCMK1pFuChgrzpqOGSxsAiYIQgshuAuJJLb0RvEMppu zuDQIxjfmJrwzytyGpxC4c9YVhNajppnWuenpAyaqaPuAi5sGkNFzdJ5NNWokZZ7 g6PfKLr9SAnuvfpTTX/JVuVYHysj18wEGVlLklLFDX8l9Bt6RZ17DARZ+4P8RLgN 0NI5j/IWwCesrsbS000NT7vi+mK/cWW22Z7oXa8aIQYPDod2aV5SxImmfXWx0xvf vDOkzeNxJb5Tpp6WN1A715ZYdWfEuCJT3D6jX5Gsv6Ggri0+zwbsm/NglCCcqe0X slO/74Kn9nknK85p5rm51KIaHvP4POPR/pZP9mQvDDKIqs3qQSjhBgozk0gWbara Wg6k2yeRPxmdj+tsGQMxmT2iLWCWx/uhAilW83oOUiFtTPnC6HkBF5AdXXI08Yt8 /d19O715i/g= =xaLf -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'soc-for-linus-2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC platform updates (part 2) from Arnd Bergmann: "These patches are all for Renesas shmobile, and depend on the earlier pinctrl updates. ARM: arm-soc driver changes for 3.10
This is a rather large set of patches for device drivers that for one
reason or another the subsystem maintainer preferred to get merged
through the arm-soc tree. There are both new drivers as well as
existing drivers that are getting converted from platform-specific
code into standalone drivers using the appropriate subsystem
specific interfaces.
In particular, we can now have pinctrl, clk, clksource and irqchip
drivers in one file per driver, without the need to call into
platform specific interface, or to get called from platform specific
code, as long as all information about the hardware is provided
through a device tree.
Most of the drivers we touch this time are for clocksource. Since
now most of them are part of drivers/clocksource, I expect that we
won't have to touch these again from arm-soc and can let the
clocksource maintainers take care of these in the future.
Another larger part of this series is specific to the exynos platform,
which is seeing some significant effort in upstreaming and
modernization of its device drivers this time around, which
unfortunately is also the cause for the churn and a lot of the
merge conflicts.
There is one new subsystem that gets merged as part of this series:
the reset controller interface, which is a very simple interface
for taking devices on the SoC out of reset or back into reset.
Patches to use this interface on i.MX follow later in this merge
window, and we are going to have other platforms (at least tegra
and sirf) get converted in 3.11. This will let us get rid of
platform specific callbacks in a number of platform independent
device drivers.

modernization of its device drivers this time around, which
unfortunately is also the cause for the churn and a lot of the merge
conflicts.
There is one new subsystem that gets merged as part of this series:
the reset controller interface, which is a very simple interface for
taking devices on the SoC out of reset or back into reset. Patches to
use this interface on i.MX follow later in this merge window, and we
are going to have other platforms (at least tegra and sirf) get
converted in 3.11. This will let us get rid of platform specific
callbacks in a number of platform independent device drivers."

ARM: arm-soc multiplatform updates for 3.10
More multiplatform enablement for ARM platforms. The ones converted in this branch are: - bcm2835 - cns3xxx - sirf - nomadik - msx - spear - tegra - ux500 We're getting close to having most of them converted! One of the larger platforms remaining is Samsung Exynos, and there are a bunch of supporting patches in this merge window for it. There was a patch in this branch to a early version of multiplatform conversion, but it ended up being reverted due to need of more bake time. The revert commit is part of the branch since it would have required rebasing multiple dependent branches and they were stable by then. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJRgg99AAoJEIwa5zzehBx3n78P/j0w/8v+F4dM29ba5M/tqbFI e3wpeFykZ/HJH+FFIEYfIablpfHsLB0LEMh0dZmwHESFC6eR0RfGL2jOkpfcH9Ne 7B/JIFN4l1iwqqKCXf+QbYL6e8YFxlJkg6BIB4KhNgliQoO/ASP/8EbcgROYuxmN KPVdw9laUCCvb5Ogh2NWVAkBHhVGAEiqK20r4TQz8alI8RUmMleWM3o+wLBWVhOO d3gtYSfuFSbrJfbpKSdycLizoV/NekdOC1A9Ov9YuOdw8DzNbrThCRQtu0tIUgxN JjfnGlEJLsJS9SESfr8SYWxTuhe/lB2dGqjQPvRtl2HGBhbtTlnWfQ0k2ZHdeJuD J50SLrGA2gN9E5PlHJXjYk8uhhGIq8bNTJ//CtDkfKTq1D7PuHVEpEctsaz3BBbM U+x9zP2v4FB+yrZu8w+gkQY/wDgHsxj08mT6BK0+l8ePdyQV22CvwmM5XlJFI03x 5J0nLYiYfef+ZN9rGgVrQbn+yv+IEkE4DmeiscjeVJE5LVdVrDpYGfx7UA7V0UA7 i3KRVpNKuy1v7GJDnKlEBPkmB+vgXTRXUPDVCuC4n0Hi5PYj4es1gY6AoXGF90wm vtKxGr/2XDLP7Ro+m0OXMttSgQShnmbrbOngfkWcFwUmG7cB3SSUUOGKM+2LNnXM MJTqVhPjkZ2GYBi/J6S/ =4hSo -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'multiplatform-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC multiplatform updates from Olof Johansson: "More multiplatform enablement for ARM platforms.
