In hid_submit_ctrl(), the way of calculating the report length doesn't
take into account that report->size can be zero. When running the
syzkaller reproducer, a report of size 0 causes hid_submit_ctrl) to
calculate transfer_buffer_length as 16384. When this urb is passed to
the usb core layer, KMSAN reports an info leak of 16384 bytes.
To fix this, first modify hid_report_len() to account for the zero
report size case by using DIV_ROUND_UP for the division. Then, call it
from hid_submit_ctrl().

commit 88f38846bf upstream.
The `wacom_feature_mapping` function is careful to only set the the
touch_max value a single time, but this care does not extend to the
`wacom_wac_finger_event` function. In particular, if a device sends
multiple HID_DG_CONTACTMAX items in a single feature report, the
driver will end up retaining the value of last item.
The HID descriptor for the Cintiq Companion 2 does exactly this. It
incorrectly sets a "Report Count" of 2, which will cause the driver
to process two HID_DG_CONTACTCOUNT items. The first item has the actual
count, while the second item should have been declared as a constant
zero. The constant zero is the value the driver ends up using, however,
since it is the last HID_DG_CONTACTCOUNT in the report.
Report ID (16),
Usage (Contact Count Maximum), ; Contact count maximum (55h, static value)
Report Count (2),
Logical Maximum (10),
Feature (Variable),
To address this, we add a check that the touch_max is not already set
within the `wacom_wac_finger_event` function that processes the
HID_DG_TOUCHMAX item. We emit a warning if the value is set and ignore
the updated value.
This could potentially cause problems if there is a tablet which has
a similar issue but requires the last item to be used. This is unlikely,
however, since it would have to have a different non-zero value for
HID_DG_CONTACTMAX earlier in the same report, which makes no sense
except in the case of a firmware bug. Note that cases where the
HID_DG_CONTACTMAX items are in different reports is already handled
(and similarly ignored) by `wacom_feature_mapping` as mentioned above.

Either of the value to shift being 0 or the bits count being 0 can be

commit ed9be64eef upstream.
The HID subsystem allows an "HID report field" to have a different
number of "values" and "usages" when it is allocated. When a field
struct is created, the size of the usage array is guaranteed to be at
least as large as the values array, but it may be larger. This leads to
a potential out-of-bounds write in
__hidinput_change_resolution_multipliers() and an out-of-bounds read in
hidinput_count_leds().
To fix this, let's make sure that both the usage and value arrays are
the same size.

The Varmilo VA104M Keyboard (04b4:07b1, reported as Varmilo Z104M)
exposes media control hotkeys as a USB HID consumer control device, but
these keys do not work in the current (5.8-rc1) kernel due to the
incorrect HID report descriptor. Fix the problem by modifying the
internal HID report descriptor.
More specifically, the keyboard report descriptor specifies the
logical boundary as 572~10754 (0x023c ~ 0x2a02) while the usage
boundary is specified as 0~10754 (0x00 ~ 0x2a02). This results in an
incorrect interpretation of input reports, causing inputs to be ignored.
By setting the Logical Minimum to zero, we align the logical boundary
with the Usage ID boundary.
Some notes:
* There seem to be multiple variants of the VA104M keyboard. This
patch specifically targets 04b4:07b1 variant.
* The device works out-of-the-box on Windows platform with the generic
consumer control device driver (hidserv.inf). This suggests that
Windows either ignores the Logical Minimum/Logical Maximum or
interprets the Usage ID assignment differently from the linux
implementation; Maybe there are other devices out there that only
works on Windows due to this problem?

When calling into hid_map_usage(), the passed event code is
blindly stored as is, even if it doesn't fit in the associated bitmap.
This event code can come from a variety of sources, including devices
masquerading as input devices, only a bit more "programmable".
Instead of taking the event code at face value, check that it actually
fits the corresponding bitmap, and if it doesn't:
- spit out a warning so that we know which device is acting up
- NULLify the bitmap pointer so that we catch unexpected uses
Code paths that can make use of untrusted inputs can now check
that the mapping was indeed correct and bail out if not.

commit eef4016243 upstream.
Before this commit i2c_hid_parse() consists of the following steps:
1. Send power on cmd
2. usleep_range(1000, 5000)
3. Send reset cmd
4. Wait for reset to complete (device interrupt, or msleep(100))
5. Send power on cmd
6. Try to read HID descriptor
Notice how there is an usleep_range(1000, 5000) after the first power-on
command, but not after the second power-on command.
Testing has shown that at least on the BMAX Y13 laptop's i2c-hid touchpad,
not having a delay after the second power-on command causes the HID
descriptor to read as all zeros.
In case we hit this on other devices too, the descriptor being all zeros
can be recognized by the following message being logged many, many times:
hid-generic 0018:0911:5288.0002: unknown main item tag 0x0
At the same time as the BMAX Y13's touchpad issue was debugged,
Kai-Heng was working on debugging some issues with Goodix i2c-hid
touchpads. It turns out that these need a delay after a PWR_ON command
too, otherwise they stop working after a suspend/resume cycle.
According to Goodix a delay of minimal 60ms is needed.
Having multiple cases where we need a delay after sending the power-on
command, seems to indicate that we should always sleep after the power-on
command.
This commit fixes the mentioned issues by moving the existing 1ms sleep to
the i2c_hid_set_power() function and changing it to a 60ms sleep.

commit 4f57cace81 upstream.
Some devices, particularly the 3DConnexion Spacemouse wireless 3D
controllers, return more than just the battery capacity in the battery
report. The Spacemouse devices return an additional byte with a device
specific field. However, hidinput_query_battery_capacity() only
requests a 2 byte transfer.
When a spacemouse is connected via USB (direct wire, no wireless dongle)
and it returns a 3 byte report instead of the assumed 2 byte battery
report the larger transfer confuses and frightens the USB subsystem
which chooses to ignore the transfer. Then after 2 seconds assume the
device has stopped responding and reset it. This can be reproduced
easily by using a wired connection with a wireless spacemouse. The
Spacemouse will enter a loop of resetting every 2 seconds which can be
observed in dmesg.
This patch solves the problem by increasing the transfer request to 4
bytes instead of 2. The fix isn't particularly elegant, but it is simple
and safe to backport to stable kernels. A further patch will follow to
more elegantly handle battery reports that contain additional data.

The Maxxter KB-BT-001 Bluetooth keyboard, which looks somewhat like the
Apple Wireless Keyboard, is using the vendor and product IDs (05AC:0239)
of the Apple Wireless Keyboard (2009 ANSI version) <sigh>.
But its F1 - F10 keys are marked as sending F1 - F10, not the special
functions hid-apple.c maps them too; and since its descriptors do not
contain the HID_UP_CUSTOM | 0x0003 usage apple-hid looks for for the
Fn-key, apple_setup_input() never gets called, so F1 - F6 are mapped
to key-codes which have not been set in the keybit array causing them
to not send any events at all.
The lack of a usage code matching the Fn key in the clone is actually
useful as this allows solving this problem in a generic way.
This commits adds a fn_found flag and it adds a input_configured
callback which checks if this flag is set once all usages have been
mapped. If it is not set, then assume this is a clone and clear the
quirks bitmap so that the hid-apple code does not add any special
handling to this keyboard.
This fixes F1 - F6 not sending anything at all and F7 - F12 sending
the wrong codes on the Maxxter KB-BT-001 Bluetooth keyboard and on
similar clones.

The syzbot fuzzer discovered a bad race between in the usbhid driver
between usbhid_stop() and usbhid_close(). In particular,
usbhid_stop() does:
usb_free_urb(usbhid->urbin);
...
usbhid->urbin = NULL; /* don't mess up next start */
and usbhid_close() does:
usb_kill_urb(usbhid->urbin);
with no mutual exclusion. If the two routines happen to run
concurrently so that usb_kill_urb() is called in between the
usb_free_urb() and the NULL assignment, it will access the
deallocated urb structure -- a use-after-free bug.
This patch adds a mutex to the usbhid private structure and uses it to
enforce mutual exclusion of the usbhid_start(), usbhid_stop(),
usbhid_open() and usbhid_close() callbacks.

We've recently switched from extracting the value of HID_DG_CONTACTMAX
at a fixed offset (which may not be correct for all tablets) to
injecting the report into the driver for the generic codepath to handle.
Unfortunately, this change was made for *all* tablets, even those which
aren't generic. Because `wacom_wac_report` ignores reports from non-
generic devices, the contact count never gets initialized. Ultimately
this results in the touch device itself failing to probe, and thus the
loss of touch input.
This commit adds back the fixed-offset extraction for non-generic devices.

Most keyboard docks with an ITE 8595 keyboard/touchpad controller have the
"Wireless Radio Control" bits which need the special hid-ite driver on the

bits have been moved to the first USB interface (the keyboard intf).
So we need hid-ite to handle the first (keyboard) USB interface and have
it NOT bind to the second (mouse) USB interface so that that can be
handled by hid-multitouch.c and we get proper multi-touch support.
This commit changes the hid_device_id for the SW5-012 keyboard dock to
only match on hid devices from the HID_GROUP_GENERIC group, this way
hid-ite will not bind the the mouse/multi-touch interface which has
HID_GROUP_MULTITOUCH_WIN_8 as group.
This fixes the regression to mouse-emulation mode introduced by adding
the keyboard dock USB id.

The Acer SW5-012 2-in-1 keyboard dock uses a Synaptics S91028 touchpad
which is connected to an ITE 8595 USB keyboard controller chip.
This keyboard has the same quirk for its rfkill / airplane mode hotkey as
other keyboards with the ITE 8595 chip, it only sends a single release
event when pressed and released, it never sends a press event.
This commit adds this keyboards USB id to the hid-ite id-table, fixing
the rfkill key not working on this keyboard.

When polling a connected /dev/hidrawX device, it is useful to get the
EPOLLOUT when writing is possible. Since writing is possible as soon as
the device is connected, always return it.
Right now EPOLLOUT is only returned when there are also input reports
are available. This works if devices start sending reports when
connected, but some HID devices might need an output report first before
sending any input reports. This change will allow using EPOLLOUT here as
well.

Always return EPOLLOUT from hidraw_poll when a device is connected.
This is safe since writes are always possible (but will always block).
hidraw does not support non-blocking writes and instead always calls
blocking backend functions on write requests. Hence, so far, a call to
poll never returned EPOLLOUT, which confuses tools like socat.

commit 18a1b06e5b upstream.
The open method of hiddev handler fails to bring the device out of
autosuspend state as was promised in 0361a28d3f, as it actually has 2
blocks that try to start the transport (call hid_hw_open()) with both
being guarded by the "open" counter, so the 2nd block is never executed as
the first block increments the counter so it is never at 0 when we check
it for the second block.
Additionally hiddev_open() was leaving counter incremented on errors,
causing the device to never be reopened properly if there was ever an
error.
Let's fix all of this by factoring out code that creates client structure
and powers up the device into a separate function that is being called
from usbhid_open() with the "existancelock" being held.

We should not be leaving half-mapped usages with potentially invalid
keycodes, as that may confuse hidinput_find_key() when the key is located
by index, which may end up feeding way too large keycode into the VT

commit 8ec321e96e upstream.
The syzbot fuzzer found a slab-out-of-bounds bug in the HID report
handler. The bug was caused by a report descriptor which included a
field with size 12 bits and count 4899, for a total size of 7349
bytes.
The usbhid driver uses at most a single-page 4-KB buffer for reports.
In the test there wasn't any problem about overflowing the buffer,
since only one byte was received from the device. Rather, the bug
occurred when the HID core tried to extract the data from the report
fields, which caused it to try reading data beyond the end of the
allocated buffer.
This patch fixes the problem by rejecting any report whose total
length exceeds the HID_MAX_BUFFER_SIZE limit (minus one byte to allow
for a possible report index). In theory a device could have a report
longer than that, but if there was such a thing we wouldn't handle it
correctly anyway.

commit 1cb0d2aee2 upstream.
Upstream commit 58e7515500 ("HID: core: move Usage Page concatenation
to Main item") adds support for Usage Page item after Usage ID items
(such as keyboards manufactured by Primax).
Usage Page concatenation in Main item works well for following report
descriptor patterns:
USAGE_PAGE (Keyboard) 05 07
USAGE_MINIMUM (Keyboard LeftControl) 19 E0
USAGE_MAXIMUM (Keyboard Right GUI) 29 E7
LOGICAL_MINIMUM (0) 15 00
LOGICAL_MAXIMUM (1) 25 01
REPORT_SIZE (1) 75 01
REPORT_COUNT (8) 95 08
INPUT (Data,Var,Abs) 81 02
-------------
USAGE_MINIMUM (Keyboard LeftControl) 19 E0
USAGE_MAXIMUM (Keyboard Right GUI) 29 E7
LOGICAL_MINIMUM (0) 15 00
LOGICAL_MAXIMUM (1) 25 01
REPORT_SIZE (1) 75 01
REPORT_COUNT (8) 95 08
USAGE_PAGE (Keyboard) 05 07
INPUT (Data,Var,Abs) 81 02
But it makes the parser act wrong for the following report
descriptor pattern(such as some Gamepads):
USAGE_PAGE (Button) 05 09
USAGE (Button 1) 09 01
USAGE (Button 2) 09 02
USAGE (Button 4) 09 04
USAGE (Button 5) 09 05
USAGE (Button 7) 09 07
USAGE (Button 8) 09 08
USAGE (Button 14) 09 0E
USAGE (Button 15) 09 0F
USAGE (Button 13) 09 0D
USAGE_PAGE (Consumer Devices) 05 0C
USAGE (Back) 0a 24 02
USAGE (HomePage) 0a 23 02
LOGICAL_MINIMUM (0) 15 00
LOGICAL_MAXIMUM (1) 25 01
REPORT_SIZE (1) 75 01
REPORT_COUNT (11) 95 0B
INPUT (Data,Var,Abs) 81 02
With Usage Page concatenation in Main item, parser recognizes all the
11 Usages as consumer keys, it is not the HID device's real intention.
This patch checks whether Usage Page is really defined after Usage ID
items by comparing usage page using status.
Usage Page concatenation on currently defined Usage Page will always
do in local parsing when Usage ID items encountered.
When Main item is parsing, concatenation will do again with last
defined Usage Page if this page has not been used in the previous
usages concatenation.
