be using the staging driver.

The I2O layer deals with a technology that to say the least didn't catch on
in the market.
The only relevant products are some of the AMI MegaRAID - which supported I2O
and its native mode (The native mode is faster and runs on Linux), an
obscure crypto ethernet card that's now so many years out of date nobody
would use it, the old DPT controllers, which speak their own dialect and
have their own driver - and ermm.. thats about it.
We also know the code isn't in good shape as recently a patch was proposed
and queried as buggy, which in turn showed the existing code was broken
already by prior "clean up" and nobody had noticed that either.
It's coding style robot code nothing more. Like some forgotten corridor
cleaned relentlessly by a lost Roomba but where no user has trodden in years.
Move it to staging and then to /dev/null.
The headers remain as they are shared with dpt_i2o.

The general agreed way to specify a fixed line number
for a serial console is to provide a "serial" alias
in the devicetree. Start parsing this property in
of_serial.

When attempting to create a gropu without attrs, the warning prints the
name of the group. However, the check for name being a NULL pointer is
wrong: it uses the pointer to the name when it's NULL. Fix it to use
the name if present, otherwise just put an empty string.

'make pdfdocs' failed for uio-howto.tmpl and reported errors of the form:
'document type does not allow element "varname" here; missing one of "remark", "synopsis", "fieldsynopsis", "literallayout", "programlisting", "screen", "para", "simpara", "bridgehead" start-tag'
and similar.
Fixed by adding '<para>' and '</para>' tags to a location that made sense, fixed the errors and the pdf looks OK in relevant ereas.

If a MCB PCI Carrier device is IO mapped insted of memory-mapped (which is
currently unsupported by the upstream driver) the probe function bails out
with -ENOTSUPP.
In this case the memory of the PCI device was not unmapped.
Also rename error label to reflect what will happen at the destination (suggested
by Julia Lawall <julia.lawall@lip6.fr>.

Some devices might not implement config space access
(e.g. remoteproc used not to - before 3.9).
virtio/console needs config space access so make it

The big issue here is:
of_property_read_u32(np, "flow_cntrl", (u32 *)&dt_pdata->flow_cntrl);
"->flow_cntrl" is a char so when we write a 32 bit number to it then it
corrupts past the end of the char. It's probably hard to notice because
the struct has padding so the code works on little endian systems. But
on a big endian system the code would fail and on a 64 bit, big endian
systems then "nshutdown_gpio" and "baud_rate" would be buggy as well.

We might enter the interrupt handler with hw_ready already set,
but prior we actually started the reset flow.
To soleve this we move the reset release from the interrupt handler
to the HW start wait function which is part of the reset sequence.

When tapping a clickpad with two fingers, there is a chance that the sensor
sees first only one finger, and at the next scan only the second one. In
this case, the sensors says that there has been only one finger on the
clickpad, which moved really fast between two scans.
We can try to counter this by adding a limit to what an actual finger can
move between 2 scans. A distance of 1cm between two scans for one finger
seems reasonable. However, this is not really accurate because the
resolution in X and in Y differs. But heh, that's how the in-kernel
tracking works right now, and its job is quite good, even with this
approximation.
This parameter solves most of the jumps observed, not all of them however.
But this is a hardware defect, and we might not be able to get something
better without much heavier computations.

The EHCI controller on the RK3288 SoC is violating basic parts of the
USB spec and thereby unable to properly resume a suspended port. It does
not start SOF generation within 3ms of finishing resume signaling, so
the attached device will drop of the bus again. This is a particular
problem with runtime PM, where accessing the device will trigger a
resume that immediately makes it unavailable (and reenumerate with a new
handle).
Thankfully, the persist feature is generally able to work around stuff
like that. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work in this particular case
because the controller will turn off the CurrentConnectStatus bit for an
instant while the device is reconnecting, which causes the kernel to
conclude that it permanently disappeared. This patch adds a tiny retry
mechanism to the core port resume code which will catch this case and
shouldn't have any notable impact on other controllers.

The PPC_OF is a ppc specific option which is used to mean that the
firmware device tree access functions are available. Since all the
ppc platforms have a device tree, it is aways set to 'y' for ppc.
So it makes no sense to keep a such option in the current kernel.

In order to get exact 24MHz clock frequency value for the camera
sensor and avoid rounding errors the parent clock must be CLK_XUSBXTI,
not CLK_MOUT_MPLL_USER_T. Currently the sensor's master clock
frequency is too high and the sensor doesn't work properly.
This fixes commit 0357a4438d

Assign proper FIMC-IS UART gate clock in the device DT node and not
use the SRC_MASK gate. This fixes regression introduced in commit
a37c82a3b3 ("clk: samsung: exynos4: Remove
SRC_MASK_ISP gates").
Without this change exynos4 fimc-is driver fails to probe with an
error log:

Remove fixed regulators (duplicating what max77686 provides) and
add GPIO enable control to max77686 regulators.
This gives the system full control over those regulators. Previously
the state of such regulators was a mixture of what max77686 driver set
over I2C and what regulator-fixed set through GPIO.
Removal of 'regulator-always-on' from CAM_ISP_CORE_1.2V (buck9) allows
disabling it when it is not used. Previously this regulator was always
enabled because its enable state is a OR of:
- ENB9 GPIO (turned always on by regulator-fixed),
- BUCK9EN field in BUCK9CTRL register (off by max77686 through I2C).

Add suspend to RAM configuration for max77686 regulators. Some LDOs
and bucks are disabled. This reduces energy consumption during S2R,
approximately from 17 mA to 9 mA.
Additionally remove old and not supported bindings:
- regulator-mem-off
- regulator-mem-idle
- regulator-mem-on
The max77686 driver does not parse them and they are not documented
anywere.

Add node for fuel gauge present in Maxim 77693 PMIC. This allows control
over battery charging state on Trats2 board.
The fuel gauge is compatible with max17042 battery driver (Maxim
17042/17047/17050). Although datasheet rev 2.2 for MAX77693 describes
fuel gauge as Maxim 17042-like, the chip on Trats2 board identifies
itself as Maxim 17047-like.

and then returns immediately. Thus the test around the call is not needed.

Clients using the dev_pm_put_subsys_data() API isn't interested of a
return value. They care only of decreasing a reference to the device's
pm_subsys_data. So, let's convert the API to a void function, which
anyway seems like reasonable thing to do.

The optional genpd's ->attach_dev() callback is invoked from
__pm_genpd_add_device(). Let's add error handling from the response
from this callback and propagate the error code.
When __pm_genpd_add_device() is invoked through the generic OF-based PM
domain look-up path, the device is being probed. Returning an error
will mean the device won't be attached to its PM domain. Errors of
-EPROBE_DEFER get special treatment and is propagated to the driver
core.
Therefore this change also enables the ->attach_dev() callback to
be able to request for a deferred probe sequence.

Move the initialization of the struct generic_pm_domain_data into
genpd_alloc_dev_data(), including the assignment of the device's
->pm_domain() callback. Make corresponding changes to
genpd_free_dev_data().
These changes will make the related code more readable. It will also
decrease the critical regions for where genpd's mutex is being held and
for where the device's power related spinlock is being held.

The error path in __pm_genpd_add_device() didn't decrease the reference
to the struct pm_subsys_data.
Let's move the calls to dev_pm_get|put_subsys_data() into
genpd_alloc|free_dev_data() to fix this issue and thus prevent a
potential memory leakage.

While adding devices to their PM domains, dev_pm_qos_add_notifier() was
invoked while allocating the generic_pm_domain_data for the device.
Since the generic_pm_domain_data's device pointer will be assigned
after allocation, the ->genpd_dev_pm_qos_notifier() callback could be
called prior having a valid pointer to the device. Similar scenario
existed while removing a device from a genpd.
To cope with these scenarios a mutex was used to protect the pointer to
the device.
By re-order the sequence for when dev_pm_qos_add|remove_notifier() are
invoked, we make sure the ->genpd_dev_pm_qos_notifier() callback are
always called with a valid device pointer available.
In this way, we eliminate the need for protecting the pointer and thus
we can remove the mutex from the struct generic_pm_domain_data.

When adding a device to a genpd, we no longer need to walk genpd's list
of existing devices to verify it hasn't already been added.
Instead we can now rely on the verification of not allowing existing
generic_pm_domain_data for a device, since that has the same meaning.

When adding a device to a genpd, a struct generic_pm_domain_data is
allocated per device.
Verify that there are no existing generic_pm_domain_data for the device
we are about to add, since that tells us it has already been added to a
genpd.
When genpd supported PM domain device callbacks, this was a valid
scenario. Now it isn't so let's return an error code.
